I agree with you...Thanks for your comment EnoVitis. I agree with you on trying different things, sometimes you will be greatly surprised and in others, you will learn what not to try again.

What I meant with "the best coffee is the one you like" is that people shouldn't feel forced to pretend to drink one type of coffee if they don’t like it. If someone doesn’t enjoy black unsweetened coffee they shouldn’t drink it just because they “heard” somewhere that that’s how coffee should be drank. Drinking and appreciating coffee should be an enjoyable experience.
luisgtz2https://www.blogger.com/profile/01667368579237802698noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2377599426439812787.post-21163382381733680212013-12-15T06:43:54.945-08:002013-12-15T06:43:54.945-08:00somehow I do not agree with the last recommendatio...somehow I do not agree with the last recommendation. Actually I think it has to do more with your post on "The journey", where ignorance or lack of experience limits our appreciation. My recommendation would be try as much different things as you can, then try some more (being willing to pay sometimes).

Regarding preferences on coffee, the basic stuff for me is fruity aroma (lets not forget the bean is the seed of a fruit), balanced with the roasted and caramel notes. Marked acidity. Long lasting. The kind of stuff you get when you ask for a caffè in Italy.

Things I dont want in my coffe: carton, metallic, musty, artificial flavoring, lack of aroma, diluted taste, tar, and soap. Me and some friends at the office used to go out and get trays full of venti white chocolate mochas several times a day. It was fun while it lasted, then my stomach was done of it.

Then I met early morning espressos in Spain. During my bartender days I learned how annoyed people could get when being offered an american coffee. That's american. And mexican. In many places a regular every day morning coffee is just an amazing full bodied espresso.

So, in complete affinity with your post here, I'd rather buy a coffee at one of those cheap eateries across the street and go back to Starbucks with my laptop, get a sandwich, and enjoy the experience.ebrichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17927733224977234035noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2377599426439812787.post-21658353259226714622011-09-29T21:59:55.171-07:002011-09-29T21:59:55.171-07:00I know Jan!

I hope I could talk about coffee makers in a future blog and some experiences I had and advices I received. A friend of mine recently told me that something that makes a big difference in coffee is the quality of your grinder; although he also said that one need to invest at least $400 USD to get a decent one.luisgtz2https://www.blogger.com/profile/01667368579237802698noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2377599426439812787.post-71260698777026496082011-09-28T23:19:09.774-07:002011-09-28T23:19:09.774-07:00Coffee? It really takes time for me to get fully awake and ready for the day. And nothing is better to spend this crucial moment with a freshly brewed coffee. But here's the thing: I have in my kitchen a 15 dollars Mr. Coffee coffee maker and use beans bought at Costco (which are actually Starbucks beans and should be not too bad). Quiet frankly, it totally works for me to get the necessary boost in the morning but there is so much room for more pleasure. Once switched to better equipment and beans, there will be no way back I guess. Luis, I want to do this and need support. ;) JanAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07554894315295049895noreply@blogger.com
